THE RULES:

1—All pokemon must be nicknamed.

2—I must attempt to catch the first pokemon I see in any route or area. I may catch no others in that area.

3—If a pokemon faints, it is considered “dead” and may no longer be used. I will release them from the next PC.

4—Legendaries cannot be caught or used.

5—The Pokewalker cannot be used.

6—If the first encounter is a duplicate of a pokemon I already have, I may ignore it and re-try for a new one. After three re-tries, however, I must catch the fourth one even if it is a dupe.

7—Gift pokemon, such as Bill’s Eevee or the Tyrogue from the Karate King, can be accepted and used and do not count under the “first encounter” rule. Forced encounters, such as Sudowoodo and the Red Gyarados, however, do count under the “first encounter” rule.

8—In-game trades are acceptable, but out-of-game trades, even to make pokemon such as Haunter or Graveler evolve, are not.

9—The Daycare Center cannot be used to breed, but it can be used to level up pokemon.

10—If all pokemon in my party faint, or if I am in a situation where I need to use a move like Cut or Surf to progress but have no pokemon that can use these moves and cannot obtain one without breaking the rules, I lose and my adventure ends.

Route 15

We’re here just east of Fuchsia City. It’s time to take the long walk to Lavender Town! I’ve swapped Lizzie into my party in lieu of Jacob, as if I remember correctly this is a good place to come packing Cut.

Right off the bat, we have a new encounter! It’s a Nidorino? I already have Jacob, but let’s catch it anyway. Paralysis from Randall and a Moon Ball get the job done lickety-split.

Success! Virgil has an Impish nature and “likes to relax.”

A few School Kids actually have some decent pokemon (particularly one with an Alakazam… bad flashbacks to Sabrina ahoy) but our team is just too strong for them. Strangely, the children here appear to equal the levels of Janine, the leader we just fought. Janine! I know you’re new and all, but c’mon!

“We’re on a school trip to Lavender Radio Tower for social studies,” says one kid. You mean that place that used to be hallowed ground and was grossly turned into a glorified antenna? >:c

“If Pokemon were a subject at school, I’d be the best!” says another. You and me both, kid. :b

Ew! Some lady’s Spinda has a spot pattern that seriously makes it look like it has a mouth rash or something. Yuck!

Route 14

Right off the bat there’s a gauntlet of even more School Kids, plus a Teacher and a Bird Keeper. Once we power through them we get our encounter for the area… another Nidorino?!

Well, let’s catch him. “Lonely, capable of taking hits.” His name is Bubs.

And whuzzuHUH? Suicune is here? Eusine comes along and gives us a hint to Suicune’s location not because he wants to, but because he thinks Suicune will like him if he does. Ooooooooooooookay then.

Route 13

Wow, so many routes, and all back to back! This is that huge, mazey fence area, remember? I’m coming up close to Silence Bridge.

A million and a half trainers have been giving us their phone numbers these last few areas, which is nice, but if I’m going to farm exp off of someone I can call, I’d prefer it if they didn’t take so long to get to!

“Bow down before my regal pokemon!” says a guy whose team contains two lv. 29 pokemon and a lv. 64 Magikarp. I don’t… I don’t get your team selection, man.

None of these trainers are that difficult, but they’re all doing a number on my PP. And I think I’m only halfway done… X_X

Near the end of the route, we finally find our grassy patch. Ah, it’s a Hoppip! We catch her with no problems. I name her Clair; her nature is Timid and her details are “proud of its power.” After finally making it onto the bridge area itself…

Route 12

We’re finally here. Silence Bridge. For some reason, that name always conjures up powerful nostalgia for me, you know? Way back when I was playing the original Game Boy pokemon games and I learned that this place had a name beyond just “Route X” it just… I dunno, it really struck a chord with me. Pokemon X and Y did something similar with their little subtitles for all the miscellaneous routes.

After defeating a couple of Fishermen and snagging a Calcium from behind a tree, I finally get the Super Rod. Hooray! I could use it to fish up a pokemon, but there’s nothing noteworthy to fish for here, ironically enough. Instead, I’ll Surf and try for a Quagsire.

And hey, it works! Quagsire lv. 25! I’ll just toss a Net Ball and… done! Jordan has a Calm nature, details are “highly persistent.”

Further up are more trainers (with generally weaker levels than the School Kids earlier, for whatever reason) and a gate to Route 11 to the left. I’ll swing by there next time. Even more trainers get in our way, but we finally make it to Lavender Town.

Lavender Town

Whew, finally made it to a town! With that very long walk out of the way, next time we’ll be tackling more parts of Kanto that I didn’t visit. Stay tuned!

Current Teammates: Kenya (Fearow), Noelle (Gyarados), Randall (Magneton), Vivian (Dragonite), Sofia (Starmie), Lizzie (Beedrill)
